Portrait night at Alba

On Wednesday 28th September a group of Alba members visited the Summerlee Photo Studio, Coatbridge, where photographer John Gray presented a studio workshop on portraiture. John's preparation for his presentation was superb and with the help of his model, Zoey, members had a fantastic time learning how to capture some splendid 'high key' and 'low key' portrait photos through the use of studio lighting and of course the correct settings of their cameras. With John providing the key points of how to achieve good, interesting photos, members took it in turn to work with Zoey and practice with their own cameras.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience for all those who attended the evening and Alba wish to thank both John and Zoey for their help and preparation of the evening for our members. Also a big thank you to our very own member Alan Pollock who took the time and effort to arrange the evening for us all.

Back at our own club venue in Netherton the remaining Alba members had their own portraiture night with the use of their brand new studio lighting. Again members had the opportunity to work with three lovely models, Fiona, Eilidh and Jenna, who did an excellent job working with our photographers. A very big thank you to them all for their patience and also to our own members again, Roy, Jim and Alan for taking the time out and setting up the equipment before the evening began.

Next week both groups will swap places for another exciting night of portraiture and hopefully put into practice some of the key points they learned previously for some good portrait shots.
